Police dismiss Sergeant over death of undergraduate

The Police Command in Bayelsa State has dismissed a sergeant, Timadi Emmanuel, who allegedly shot and killed Tariela Nikadae, a 20-year-old undergraduate of Petro-Chemical Engineering, Niger Delta University, Yenagoa.

On 23rd November , Sgt. Emmanuel, attached to a patrol team in Akenfa Division, while on patrol on Tenacious Road, Edepie, Yenagoa, allegedly shot dead Nikadae.
DSP Asinim Butswat, Spokesman of the command, in Yenagoa on Wednesday said that the policeman would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.
“The Bayelsa Police Command regrets the unfortunate incident involving a police officer and a resident of Tenacious Road, Edepie, Yenagoa.
The policeman has been dismissed after preliminary investigations into the incident.

He would be prosecuted as soon as investigations are concluded,” he said.
