The resident electoral commissioner in Oyo state Barr. Mutiu Agboke has called on resident of Oyo state to come out in mass to pick up their uncollected PVC’s (permanent voters card) which is still in their possession at the INEC office. This he made known while delivering his goodwill message at the OMPAN(Online media practitioners association of Nigeria ) seminar tagged ONLINE JOURNALISM AND MEDIA INTERGITY IN NIGERIA which was held at the NUJ press centre Iyaganku GRA Ibadan on Thursday 27th December 2018.
In his words, a total of 248,064 PVC’s has been collected while 914,529 PVC’s with the inclusion of transferred PVC’s from other states to Oyo state were yet to be collected out of 2,954,720 registered voters which is also subject to removal of dead people.
While speaking on the general election in 2019 he said “INEC cannot deviate from its guidelines and constitution for there to be smooth running of the election process. There has been proper education and sensitization of the general populace which will make them vote for candidates of their choice as INEC will not he imposing a candidate on anybody. The result of the election he said is likely going to be neck to neck as the ground is a clear level playing field where by no political party can say they have the upper hand because what they are looking for cannot be found which is buying of votes and PVC’s according to the security reports reaching his office. Reiterating his words, he said those who are looking for such avenues are merely wasting their time as no INEC official in Oyo state will engage in such activities. “
He further enjoined online publishers to check for facts before publishing any news in order to avoid a wild spread a fake and fictitious news.
